    When you think of Shoemasters, you probably just think of shoes. But we're so much more than that. With our varieties of clothing, accessories, and shoes, we dress you for success, bring you that perfect outfit for your special event, equip you for that basketball game or high performance run. Check us out. Because at Shoemasters Ltd., "We don't just fit your feet; we fit your life".

    Mr. R.A. Thani and his three brothers established Thani Brothers in the late 1940s. His older brothers, Mr.D.A.Thani and Mr.S.A. Thani, were operating from Guyana and Japan respectively.

    The brothers eventually separated their business interests and Mr. R. A. Thani retained his operations in Barbados, having acquired retail properties on Broad Street, Bridge Street, Swan Street and what is now know as Bayside Plaza. He did this with the help of his sons, Mr. Prakash Thani and Mr. Hiro Thani.

    Mr. Thani subsequently settled the properties among his sons, but retained the property at Bridge Street, which is still under the name of Thani Brothers.

    Thani Brothers operated in Prince William Henry Street next to Woolworth, and was called Kashmir Bazaar.

    The store was a retail operation selling a souvenir line to tourists, as well as a garment line on the upper floor at Bridge Street known as Town & Country Fashions.

    Town & Country Fashions was first opened in Bridge Street in the mid 1970s by Prakash Thani. After the fire at Bridge Street, the garment line was never restarted in Bridge Street, but was opened again at Bayside Plaza in 1997.

    In 1980, Prakash Thani decided to close the general line and open one product line of shoes. Shoemasters Ltd. was started in 1980 and has since operated as an independent company under the management of Prakash Thani. Thani’s shoe Shops operates under Shoemasters Ltd.

    Thani’s has since become a household name and for the last 30 years has enabled many Barbadians to buy affordable, high quality shoes.
